Sri Prakash Vidya Soudham, Payakaraopeta radiated festive splendour as JOSH, a creative festival, was well set to regale 12,000 spectators on 28 Feb. It is not a mere celebration, but the very essence of cultural competitive spirit that today’s students at all levels from KG to PG positively need to sharpen their power of expression.
Sangeetha Kalanidhi Padma Vibhushan Mangalampalli Bala Murali Krishna was the Chief Guest of the gala occasion. Dr S Vijaya Kumar, CMD, Vijay Nirman, Vizag, Sri Srikanth Addala, Film Director, Col S R Sriram, Group Commander,NCC Kakinada, Dr Saraswati, Director, Vipanchee Natyalaya, Chennai, and Dr C V Narasimham, Principal, NSTL School, Vizag were the Distinguished Guests who adorned the stage on the splendid occasion.
The first Annual day celebrations “Three – You, We, and the child of Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan was a colourful and Spectacular feasta, replete with valuable messages kindling the minds of both young and old and stage rocking cultural extravaganza.
The chief guest Sri.T.Ravi Kumar Murthy inspired the audience with his excellent elocuancy about education and importance. The guest of honour Sri.D.B.V.Raju expressed his opinion about value based education and inspired audience with his constructive opinion on education.
Director Sri.Vijay Prakash Garu clearly stated that school curriculum always focuses towards value based education and comprehensive and practical oriented. As a part of it are yatra and Athidi programmes. He also stated that our curriculum of school polishes the present state of the student to make his/her future a bed of roses.
Founder Sri.CH.V.K.Narasimha Rao garu expressed that concept and practical oriented education helps a student to brighten his future.
All Indian Foot Baller Sri Baichung Bhutia addressed the students through video conference.
Principal Sri.M.Suresh Kumar said that games and sports, general book reading enrich a childs mind very strong make him strong to face the future challenges of life.
Sri.Aparup Barua from Baichung Bhutia Football schools has also participated in the program.
The cultural show performed was talk of the town. These programmes Viz Malakumb and pyramids, Yoga, Gaganayaka, Ramayana, Rajastani folk, Krishna, Matru Devo Bhava etc., have message concealed in them to infuse moral values among students. Theses programmes enriched to bring out the hidden talents of young minds. The colourful scenario concluded with the grand final of a patriotic song “HUM HAI HINDUSANI”.

The 11th edition of SPANDANA, a creative festival, which started on 28th Dec came to an end on 30th Dec in a glittering Closing Ceremony, celebrating creativity at its best for three thrilling days at Sri Prakash Vidya Soudham, Payakarao pet. The mini Youth Festival with more than twenty events in five categories—literary, arts, dramatics, dance, music test the mettle and wits of Sri Prakash U G and P G students contestants from SPACES Institute for P.G. Studies, SPACES Degree College, Sri Venkateswara College of Education and Primary Education.
The closing ceremony started at 4.00pm on the final day. Sri K Veerraju, Convenor, Spandana came up with the final report. In this spell of SPANDANA, a total number of nearly 600 students have contested. He congratulated all the participants and hoped that all students would learn valuable lessons from such high level competitions positively.
The Special Guests were Prof Velagapudi Uma Maheswara Rao, Registrar, Andhra University and Smt ¬P Naga Ganga Kranthi, ABN Prime Time News Reader, who is a fine product of Sri Prakash who studied here from 2003 to 2006 in the SPACES Degree College.
The Special Guest Prof V Uma Maheswara Rao in his address exhorted the students to sharpen their creative thinking at the earliest at school and college. They should grab each and every opportunity at this level itself to find out the best within. He warned the students that any delay here in the present globalised competition might mean irretrievable delay costing them a dear career.
PANEL DISCUSSION
The other Special Guest, a former student of SPACES Degree College, Smt PNG Kranthi emphasized on power of expression and planned study of whatever students would do to excel not only in their career but in life as well. She felt she owed a lot to her studies at Sri Prakash as she was interested in such extra curriculum. She could not wait to perform on stage and regale the audience as she would when she was a student here.
Ramya, a B.Ed trainee, Rushi Patel, III B Com, Soundarya, III Comps and Daniel were the cynosure of attention as the Students Guests. The Panel Discussion on ‘Social Networking—its effects on youth’ with the student guests, moderated by the exacting moderator, Sri B Viswanatharao, an engineer-turned-teacher, must have given a few new insights not only to the active participants but to the probing audience as well.
CALENDAR RELEASE
There was an electrifying final session in which eleven best dances were adjudicated in the evening to decide the top prize winners. All the performers were very much excited anticipating the best in their favour. The judges themselves went through a tough time of deciding the winners.
Sri Ch Vijay Prakash, Joint Secretary of Sri Prakash Educational Institutions, gave away winning trophies to the winners and honoured the Student Guests and the Special Guests with mementoes. SPANDANA 2012, the enchanting spell of a Creative Festival, has, for sure, electrified the first of the three days 28th, 29th and 30th of this cool December. This edition or spell of SPANDANA has been encouraging in every way, giving the right platform for all the enthusiastic contestants, especially the student guests—G. Pravin Kumar, III M C A, from SPACES Institute for P.G. Studies, Smt Madahavi from Sri Venkateswara College of Education, Ch. Sirisha, III B Sc (Chem) and V. Bharath Kumar III MP Comps and K Mohanamba, III BZC from SPACES Degree College, to realize their potential that is present within.
To start with, on the first day – 28th Dec – Sri K Veerraju, Convenor or the 11the edition of SPANDANA and Principal-in-charge of SPACES Degree College along with the other Heads of Sri Prakash Educational Institutions and the typical student guests lighted up the lamp as a mark of inauguration.
The novelty was a Panel Discussion with the student guests on TODAY’S EDUCATION—MAN MAKING OR MONEY MAKING, moderated by Sri VVS Bangarraju, Director, Sri Prakash Institute for PG Studies. Later in the question time the press reporters, teachers and students questioned the student guests and the answers were the best examples of life skills in the personality development of youngsters.
Coming to the competitive action—the essay writers were very sharply thought provoking and the debaters were heated up for good presentations. The pattern of Debate was changed to suit the international demands. Elocution was a real test for the contestants’ nerves. JAM tried to catch them unawares, but it proved to be refreshing. The skits were evoking and enlightened each and every one. Monoaction checked the eloquence of articulation and Tech Presentation enabled the participants to voice out their creative persuasion.
SPANDANA is sure to lend all the contestant students some invaluable ideas on how to get through such power packed competitions with demanding life skills which are the fine points or core qualities they have to draw from SPANDANA to make their true friends through out life.
SPACES Degree College, Payakaraopeta in Visakhapatnam District conducted the 4th edition of CHEMISYMPOSIUM, a one-day National level State level Seminar on MOLECULAR SPECTROSCOPY TECHNIQUES & ROLE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IN PHARMACEUTICAL DEVELOPMENT on 16rd Dec Sunday. As many as 300 student delegates from various degree colleges around in the four districts of Srikakulam, Vijayanagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari partook in it.
The Guest Speakers on the occasion of the Inauguration were Professor A. RAMACHANDRAIAH, Dept. of chemistry, National Institute of Technology, Warangal and Sri M. PANJATCHARAM, General Manager, Quality Assurance, Ranbaxy Labs Ltd, Delhi.
Thereafter in the ensuing technical sessions, masterly power point presentations enlightened the aspiring participants. Prof A. RAMACHANDRAIAH gave a presentation on how we related to chemistry in our day-to-day life and why we cannot do away with it. Sri M. PANJATCHARAM explained the changes that have been taking place for the last 60 years
Later the Guest Speakers followed it up with question sessions in which the students participants had a very highly useful interactive clarifications from the eminent subject authorities.
The ensuing sessions held a lot for the student delegates in Poster presentations and a Quiz competition. It had been an enduring test of wits for all the participants who came up with novel ideas well depicted with creative ease. The Guest Speakers themselves judged the best presentations and the winners were awarded cash prizes at the end of the Chemi symposium 2012. Sri K. Veerraju, Principal-in-charge, proposed a Vote of Thanks.
Sri Ch Vijay Prakash, Joint Sectretary, thanked the Guest Speakers for their valuable observations and appreciated the creative efforts of the student delegates. He also stressed the need for such subject Seminars to improve competencies and employability of the aspiring students in professional fields.
The five-day long Rim Zhim (Roaring Talents) ended ceremoniously with the valedictory function, bringing a lot of memories and expectations all alive.
The Guests on the dais were the students themselves who proved their talents both in administration and teaching on 5th September, on teachers’ day.

Vijay Bhaskar, a student of X, Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan, Payakarao Peta and Master Dheeraj Kumar Agarwal, a student of X, Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan, CBSE wing Payakarao Peta, participated very sportingly and showed their skills in a lively Panel Discussion on the subject “THE PERSONALITY TRAITS NEEDED TO BECOME SUCCESS IN ONES LIFE”.
While presenting the convener’s report, Sri. Paresh Kumar Dash said that “Rim Zhim” is an inter-school competition of Sri Prakash Schools in Tuni, Payakaraopeta, Peddapuram and Rajahmundry. Competitions are held in 13 disciplines for Sub Juniors, 23 disciplines for Juniors, 23 disciplines for Seniors & 8 disciplines for Super Seniors in theatre arts, music, literary, fine arts, SUPW, quiz, Sudoku, power point presentation and games & sports.
Sri. M.V.V.S. Murthy, Senior Principal, Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan believed, “A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.” He specially thanked the unseen hands that are responsible in moulding a bright future of the children.
Sri Ch. Vijay Prakash, Joint Secretary, Sri Prakash Educational Society, addressing the gathering emphasized the students to have faith or belief in ones talents. He aptly quoted, “Belief is one of the most important bricks in any successful venture.”
Parents who attended the closing ceremony expressed their opinion that children should be given such an exposure to exhibit their skills of “Event Management”, as it is the tradition of SRI PRAKASH to give reigns into the hands of children.
Whatever the Joint Secretary, Sri. Ch. Vijay Prakash, wished during the opening ceremony, the participants proved that every year their enthusiam in both participation and presentation of various skills would definitely multiply.
The students bid farewell to Rim – Zhim with a promise to all the spectators that definitely the 9th edition of the kaleidoscopic Rim Zhim would be of more added colours.

I. MUSIC
1. CLASSICAL VOCAL SOLO (HINDUSTANI / CARNATIC)
Item can be presented in either Hindustani or Carnatic style.
b Maximum No. of accompanists are TWO.
Time allotted for each is not less than 8 min. and not more than 15 Mts.
Film songs are not allowed.
Judgement will be based on qualities like Swara, Tala, Selection of Raga,
Compositions and general impression.
2. GROUP SONGS
Two group songs should be presented by the same team out of which one will be a folk song.
Each group should consist of a maximum of 6 members.
Maximum number of accompanists can be 3.
The group song should be taken from Indian songs, which can be of any regional language.
Lyric of the songs to be submitted before 28th Dec. 2012 to the Program Coordinator for scrutiny.
Maximum time allotted for each group is 10 Min. and the maximum setting time is 10 Min.
Judgement will be based on quality of singing only and on make up, costumes of all boys or all girls.
The team should consist of all boys or all girls.
3. LIGHT VOCAL SOLO
Only ONE participant is allowed.
Maximum Time allotted is 8 Min.
Film Folk Songs / Ghazal / Bhazan / Shahbad / Adhangas can be presented.
Lyric of the song to be submitted before 28th Dec. 2012 to the Program Coordinator for scrutiny.
II DANCE
1.GROUP DANCE.
Maximum No. of participants allowed per team are 10.
The dance can be either tribal or folk or western.
Duration of dance should not be more than 10 Min.
Two copies of a brief note giving the theme and the text, if any, is to be submitted before 28th Dec. 2012 to the Program Coordinator for scrutiny.
The participants should bring their own instruments etc., and remove them quickly as soon as their programme is completed.
The team should consist of all boys or of all girls.
Judgment will be based basically on the qualities like Tala, Technique, Rhythm, Abhinaya of Expression, Costumes, Footwork, General Impression, etc.
2. GROUP DANCE (LIVE)
Maximum number of participants allowed per team is 10. The team may consist of all boys or all girls but not mixing of both.
The number of accompanists permissible is five.
The Dance can be either primitive or a folk dance (Indian Style) but not a classical one.
Duration of dance should not be more than 10 minutes.
Time for change over is only 5 min.
The participating team will be responsible for the removal of their set properties, etc., immediately after the competition of their performance.
Recorded audio will not be permitted.
Two copies of a brief note giving the theme and the text, if any, is to be submitted before 28th Dec. 2012 to the Program Coordinator for scrutiny.
Judgement will be based on the basis of rhythm, formation, expression, costumes, makeup sets and overall effect.
3. CLASSICAL DANCE (SOLO)
Classical dance can be only of the approved schools of dances such as Kathak, Kathakali, Bharatnatyam, Manipuri, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam, Odissi, etc.,
Each participant will be allowed up to 15 Min. including time for preparation, exit etc.,
Maximum 3 accompanists are permissible.
Two copies of a brief note giving the theme and the text, if any, are to be submitted to the judges before the programme.
Judgement will be based basically on the qualities like Tala, Technique, Rhythm, Abhinaya of Expression, Costumes, Footwork and General Impression etc.
III. LITERARY EVENTS
1. QUIZ
Each team should consist of 3 persons.
There will be a preliminary screening test and finally 4 teams will be selected for the final.
The final will be Oral and may consist of Audio, Visual Questions also.
The specific rules regarding evolution procedure and conditions will be given before the actual start of the competition.
The team should consist of all boys or all girls, who should attempt the screening test with all the team members answering the same paper.
2. JAM
Each participant will be given 1 Min. Time.
Medium of expression can be in English or Telugu.
Anybody passing personal aspersions on any religion, caste, creed, person or party will be disqualified.
Judgement will most likely be made on qualities like matter, delivery, diction and impact created.
5. Topic will be announced before one hour of the competition.
3. ESSAY WRITING
Maximum time allotted is 30 Min.
It can be written in English or Telugu.
Topic will be announced before one day of the competition.
Judgement will be made on the qualities like matter, narration etc.
4. DEBATE
Each team will be represented by 2 debaters in argument type.
Max. time for the pair is 6 Min.
3. Topic will be announced one day before.
Medium of expression will be either in English or in Telugu.
Anybody passing personal aspersions on religion, caste, creed, person or party will be disqualified.
Judgement will mostly likely be made on qualities like matter, delivery, diction and impact created

5. TECH PRESENTATION
Each participant will be given 10 Min. Time and max. slides should not exceed 8.

5. Topic will be announced on 24th Dec. 2012.
6. SCIENCE EXHIBITS:
The showpiece or exhibit should be prepared prior to the show and displayed during the exhibition.
A team should consist a maximum of three members.
A team can present any number of exhibits.
Judgement is based on its cost effectiveness and utility(working models preferred).
IV.THEATRE ARTS
1. TRIVIA
Maximum numbers of participants permissible in each team are 8.
Maximum time allotted for each team is 20 mins.
The group should present 3 different items in the allotted time (eg.-skit, mime, groupdance or any such theatre art event). Skit is compulsory as one item.
Use of make-up, drapery and background music is allowed.
Theme in printed form to be submitted before 28th Dec. 2012 to the Program Coordinator for scrutiny.
No personal remarks, aspersions, character assassination, etc are allowed.
Maximum No. Of accompanists permissible is 3.
The item will be basically judged on the qualities like teamwork, co-ordination, acting, stagecraft and general impressions.
The team should consist of all boys or all girls.
2. MIME
Maximum No. Of 6 participants are allowed to participate in this team.
Only ONE accompanist is allowed.
Maximum time allowed for each team is 5 Mins.
Judgement will mostly likely be based on the qualities like idea, creativity of presentation, use of make-up, costumes, music and general impression.
Theme in printed form to be submitted before 28th Dec. 2012 to the Program Coordinator for scrutiny.
The item should consist of all boys or all girls.
3. MONO ACTION
1. Maximum time allotted is 6 Mins.
2. Only ONE accompanist is allowed.
3. Use of make-up, drapery and background music is allowed.

5. The item will be judges basically on the qualities like action, modulation of voice etc.
4. MIMICRY:
Each participant will be given a maximum time of 10 Min.
Preference will be given to those who can mimic a wide variety of sounds.
The dialogues in the mimicry should be dignified and socially enjoyable.
Judgement is based on the quality of sounds and general impression.
5. SHORT FILM:
Maximum No. Of 5 participants are allowed to participate in this team.
Maximum duration allowed for each film is 5 Mins.
Final Film should be handed over to the concerned program incharge by 5pm on 29th Dec. 2012 on a CD in Windows Media Player Compatible Format.
Judgement will mostly likely be based on the qualities like idea, creativity of presentation, use of make-up, costumes, music and general impression.
Film should be completely shot afresh and no film or other video mixed or edited.
Topic for Short Film will be announced shortly.
The team should consist of all boys or all girls.
V. FINE ARTS
1. ON THE SPOT PAINTING
The item will be conducted on the spot with the participants having to paint on the subject given by the in-charge of the competition.
The duration will not be more than 2 ½ hours.
The size of the painting will be half imperial size
The painting can be done in oil, water, poster or postal colours.
The participants should bring their own material..
2. CARTOONING
The item will be conducted on the spot on the given subject/ideas.
The duration will not be more than 2 hours.
The participants should bring their own material.
3. COLLAGE
The item will be conducted on the spot on the given subject/ideas.
Maximum time is 2 hours.
The participants should bring their own material like colour papers, scissors, glue, etc.,
4. RANGOLI
The item will be conducted on the spot on the given subject/ideas in a given fixed size box.
Only colours should be used.
Salt and rice should not be used.
The duration will not be more than 2½ hours.
It will be judged on the basis of the theme, number of colours used, neat outline and overall impression.
The participants should bring their own material.
5. ON THE SPOT PHOTOGRAPHY
The participant has to bring his/her own digital camera of not more than 12 mega pixels
The digital camera should have a memory card which will be formatted by the judges before the commencement of the contest
The time limit will be 2.30 hours
The participant has to capture 5 photographs on the theme announced on the spot by the judges.
No mixing, matching or morphing of photographs will be permitted.
Software such as Photoshop etc. for enhancing images not permitted.
The organizers will have all rights for the use of these pictures as and when they deem fit.
Digital images are evaluated on the basis of (1) IMPACT, (2) COMPOSITION (3) TECHNICAL QUALITY, and (4) SUITABILITY for the specific theme.
The additional instructions will be announced on the spot.
6. S.U.P.W. (SOCIALLY USEFUL PRODUCTIVE WORK)
The showpiece or exhibit should be prepared prior to the show and displayed during the exhibition.
The exhibit should be prepared using waste products only.
Each participant is allowed to prepare only one item.
Judgement is based on its cost effectiveness and utility.
